Managing recruitment in challenging times

Schools have faced teacher supply issues for some time, with research indicating that the overall number of teachers has been failing to keep pace with pupil numbers since 2011*. And it’s not just teachers – with new analysis suggesting that support staff vacancies have almost doubled since before the pandemic**.
 
With 58%*** of MATs anticipating a shortage of suitable applicants when recruiting over the next 12 months, it is unsurprising that recruiting top talent is front of mind for most MAT leaders and HR teams.
